We are still researching the history of the language. The crushing power of the glaciers that rolled through the Pacific Northwest for thousands of years pulverized the remnant of this civilization. Almost nothing can be found of it today.
Archaeologists have now put humans in North America as far back as 50,000 years ago. Such early dates could lead the the conclusion that Watertongue might have preceded Native American languages and led to their formation and structure. Since they appear to be very similar this would make sense. Why the written form of the language did not continue and progress is unknown.
We are working on the history of Watertongue. We urge you to follow the translation of words here on WaterTongue.com each week. Over 200 words have already been translated and will eventually be posted to this site. Once more of the history is known we will pass it on.
